Are We Allowed To Eat Animal Blood?

It is sad to know that there are Bible teachers who say that the eating of animal blood is okay. Here in the Philippines, we have what we call "Dugo-dugo" or "Dinuguan."

These teachers say that the prohibition in Acts 15:20 was only prohibited on the part of the Christian Gentiles because they might offend the sentiments of the Jews. One of the prohibitions in Acts 15:20 is the prohibition to eat blood (animal blood).

Ac 15:20 "but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood.

However, even before the Jews came into existence during the time of Noah, the eating of blood was already forbidden:

Ge 9:3 "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs.

4 "But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.

The Jewish race started with Abraham. Here we see in these verses that the eating of blood was already forbidden even way before the Jewish race came into existence. Why? Because it is not food. God does not recognize it as food.

Blood was never eaten during Adam and Eve's time. It was not to be eaten in Noah's time. It was not to be eaten during Moses' time. It was not to be eaten during Christ's time. And it is still prohibited during this Church Age and it will still remain prohibited even during the millennium. Blood is not food.

Le 17:11 'For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.'

Blood is the life of the flesh. Blood represents life and God is the owner of life. Not to eat blood is to recognize God as the owner of life.
