Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
A two-edged sword can penetrate deeper than an ordinary single-edged sword simply because it is sharp on both edges. But the word of God is even sharper than any two-edged sword.
Why? It is because of this---a two-edged sword can only penetrate the physical aspect of man. But the word of God goes even deeper. It can penetrate and pierce through the soul and spirit of man and can go deep into the thoughts and intents of his heart.
No physical two-edged sword can do this. Only the word of God can.
